"My Irish heritage is quite distant and yet there is such integrity found in this music that anyone who appreciates American folk music from artists such as Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and many of the singer/songwriters of the late 60’s and early 70’s can see the relationship to the Irish style of storytelling. Humor, fun, loss, love, longing and pride in the strength of the free human spirit can all be found in both American and Irish folk music.”

A Short Bio
Chris Morgan has been performing throughout the southeast for the past decade. Beginning in South Carolina and Georgia as guitarist and lead vocalist for a three-piece electric band, he developed a love for the acoustic guitar and folk music. This interest culminated in an original/traditional, Celtic flavored duo named Ashgrove, again featuring Chris on guitar and lead vocals and Brad Owensby on mandolin, violin, guitar and accompanying vocals.

This project ended when Chris relocated to Tampa Bay in 1995 and Brad went to the Czech Republic with the Peace Corps.

Since then, Chris' affection for acoustic music has broadened to include traditional Irish music, which has helped to propel him into a successful career as a performer primarily in the Irish pub circuit. His travels have included performances in Key West, West Palm Beach, Naples, Jupiter, Tampa, Brandon, Lakeland, Dunedin, CoCoa Beach, Melbourne, St. Cloud, St. Petersburg, Punta Gorda, Orlando, St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Atlanta and Columbia.

Although Chris entertains primarily in Irish venues, he also has been developing several children's musical programs based largely on American historical music and has enjoyed bringing these presentations into schools, libraries and community centers.
